As an experienced funeral celebrant, I am typically commissioned by funeral directors who recognise that my background and approach provide a strong fit for families seeking a thoughtful, high-quality service. I take a ‘whole life’ approach, encapsulated by the fact that granny or grandad may have been old all of your life, but they were once a wonderful dancer, a brave soldier, one of the first female students at her college, or the winner of a knobbly knees competition. Together we will capture all the decades of life and love, friendship and fun, kindness and humour, endeavour and achievement.
Every service I create is written from scratch, based on meticulous consultation with the next of kin and others and crafted to capture the unique life, character and values of the person being honoured. My role is to ensure that the ceremony is not only meaningful, moving and memorable, but also respectful of the beliefs and wishes of all involved.
I offer funeral and memorial services tailored to your preferences, whether non-religious, semi-religious or spiritual-but-not-religious and guided by your wishes. Semi-religious services celebrate the life of the individual, whilst including some words of prayer or religious references for those who find them comforting. Non-religious ceremonies are also known as civil funeral services, secular services and sometimes humanist services, not to be confused with Humanist services, with a capital H, which I can also lead.
